Venue: St. Catherine's Primary School, Sandyford, Newcastle upon Tyne. NE2 1PS
Dates: September 14th, 21st, 28th and October 5th, 12th and 19th.
Times: 08:00 - 08:45. *
* Please arrive between five and ten minutes early to help set out the mats. The door to the school locks automatically and we can not see it from the training hall, if you arrive late you may be stuck outside for some time.
Cost: £35 for six weeks. Includes a set of hand wraps.
Is the instructor female? Yes. Faye has a first class degree in sport and exercise development and for seven years was part of the England ladies taekwon-do team.
Can my daughter join me? The minimum age for this course is 13. However, we have a junior class running at the same venue, on the same days, from 09:00-09:45.
Do I need any equipment? No. Just bring a bottle of water and some enthusiasm :)
What should I wear? Leggings, shorts or joggers are all fine. As we train in bare feet, please make sure any joggers don't trail on the floor. I don't want you to slip! T-shirts, vests and hoodies are all great. Being comfortable is key.
I'm a complete beginner. I've never done any martial arts before and haven't been to the gym in a long, long time. Fret not. All martial artists start out as complete beginners. In fact, we have a saying: A black belt is just a white belt who never gave up. There is no pressure to keep up with anyone else in the class. The only person you are in competition with is yourself. During the classes, easier alternatives will be given for most of the exericises. Work at your own pace; not at anyone else's.
I think I'm going to love it. Can I keep training after the 6 weeks are up? Yes! We have mixed adults classes twice a week (and the ladies usually outnumber the gents!) However, if there is demand. I will continue the ladies only class.
